The Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Trek is one of the most popular and rewarding treks in Nepal. This incredible 8-day journey takes you into the heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary, surrounded by towering peaks including Annapurna I (8,091m), Machapuchare (6,993m), and Hiunchuli.
Trek through diverse landscapes from lush subtropical forests to high alpine terrain. Starting from Ghandruk, pass through charming Gurung villages, terraced rice fields, and rhododendron forests before entering the dramatic Modi Khola gorge that leads to the base camp.
Standing at Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130m is a truly magical experience, with 360-degree views of some of the world's highest peaks surrounding you in an amphitheater of snow and ice. The trek concludes with a relaxing soak in natural hot springs at Jhinu.

Detailed Day-by-Day Itinerary
8-Day Standard Itinerary
Direct route to ABC via Ghandruk with optimal pacing and natural hot springs
Total Duration: 8 days
Day 1: Drive Pokhara to Kilu, trek to Ghandruk
Drive from Pokhara to Kilu by private jeep through beautiful countryside. Begin trekking through terraced farmlands and traditional villages. Climb steadily to reach Ghandruk, one of the largest Gurung villages in Nepal. Visit the Gurung Museum to learn about local culture. Spectacular evening views of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) from the village. Overnight in this charming mountain settlement.
Day 2: Trek Ghandruk to Chhomrong
Descend through beautiful forests with occasional mountain views. Cross Kimrung Khola river on suspension bridge. Climb steep stone steps up to Chhomrong, the last permanent settlement before ABC. The village sits on a ridge with stunning close-up views of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) and Annapurna South. Prepare mentally and physically for higher altitude trekking ahead.
Day 3: Trek Chhomrong to Bamboo
Descend steeply down stone steps to Chomrong Khola. Trek through lush bamboo and rhododendron forests. The trail becomes narrower and more remote as you enter the Modi Khola gorge. Cross several streams and small waterfalls. The landscape is surrounded by towering cliffs and dense forest. Reach Bamboo/Dovan area for overnight stay.
Day 4: Trek Bamboo to Deurali
Trek deeper into the Modi Khola gorge through pristine bamboo and rhododendron forests. The landscape gradually becomes more alpine. Pass through Himalaya Hotel and Hinku Cave. Cross avalanche-prone areas (completely safe during trekking seasons). Reach Deurali where trees become sparse and the environment becomes more barren. First glimpses into the Annapurna Sanctuary. Temperature drops noticeably as altitude increases.
Day 5: Trek Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC)
Enter the spectacular Annapurna Sanctuary - a high glacial basin completely surrounded by towering peaks. Pass Machapuchhre Base Camp (3,700m) with incredible close-up views of the sacred Fishtail mountain which has never been climbed. Continue ascending to Annapurna Base Camp, surrounded by Annapurna I (8,091m), Annapurna III, Annapurna South, Gangapurna, and other giants. Arrive afternoon with time to explore, photograph, and soak in the magnificent 360-degree mountain panorama. Sunset views are absolutely magical as golden light bathes the peaks.
Day 6: Trek ABC to Bamboo
Wake up early for incredible sunrise as golden light illuminates the surrounding peaks. 360-degree panorama of Himalayan giants. After breakfast and final photos at base camp, begin the long descent back through Machapuchhre Base Camp and Deurali. Continue descending through Himalaya Hotel to Bamboo. Dramatic change in landscape and temperature as you lose altitude. Body will feel the benefits of thicker air.
Day 7: Trek Bamboo to Jhinu
Continue descending through lush forests to Chomrong. Take alternative route down to Jhinu Danda where natural hot springs await tired trekkers. Descend to the river to soak in the therapeutic natural hot springs - the perfect way to relax tired muscles after days of trekking. Celebrate the successful completion of your Annapurna Base Camp trek. Overnight in Jhinu.
Day 8: Drive Jhinu to Pokhara
After breakfast and possibly one more dip in the hot springs, trek down to the jeep pickup point. Drive back to Pokhara by private jeep through Modi Khola valley and terraced farmlands. Arrive in Pokhara afternoon with time to relax by Phewa Lake, explore Lakeside area, or enjoy a well-deserved meal. Accommodation provided in Pokhara with breakfast, lunch, and dinner included. Celebrate your incredible achievement.
